Team kelly- my story

In the Summer of 2022, I developed a sore on my tongue that never healed. By that Fall, I had a biopsy and it came back as squamous cell carcinoma, stage 3. I had surgery on 12-1-22 to remove a third of my tongue and several lymph nodes on that side of my neck. Then I went through a rough treatment of radiation early 2023. By August 2023, I noticed a lump on the opposite side of my neck and a biopsy confirmed the cancer had returned and spread. I had another surgery. Further tests revealed the cancer had metastasized to my lungs, advancing my cancer to a stage 4. I immediately started chemotherapy and immunotherapy. I was told this treatment was considered “palliative care” because my cancer is not curable.

But by the grace of God, I’m still here! I continue weekly immunotherapy treatments. They are not without its side effects. But its doing its job keeping me in remission and allowing me to spend more time with my family and friends.

My goal is to raise cancer awareness and help others with their cancer journey by sharing my experience and spreading God’s love. I hope you are inspired by my story and share my page with others!
